Seeking progression, Samson joined a local Muay Thai camp named Pratane Jamtaret, situated near his home. The camp&#8217;s owner, Khru Thongpon Kamsawat, gave him the nickname he would become famous for \u2013 Samson Issan \u2013 drawing parallels to the biblical figure &#8216;Samson&#8217; who was renowned for his extraordinary strength. The name also emphasised Samson&#8217;s ties to the Issan region of Thailand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Lukjaopomehsak Gym, Samson began his journey to the top alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=s-5vzG4G4Bs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yodkunpol Sittraipum<\/a>, who would later go on to become the Lumpinee and Rajadamnern champion at 118 lbs. Later that year, Samson and Rittidet Sor Ploenchit, both 18 years of age, contended for a world title at 100 lbs. He KO&#8217;d Kraiwannoi at Lumpinee in July, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uzyFDEWr9Us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outpointed Thongchai Tor Silachai<\/a> at Rajadamnern in August, and avenged his past defeats by defeating Saenklai at Lumpinee in September. This winning streak earned Samson a 115 lbs world title fight against Veeraphol Sahaprom, nicknamed \u201cDeath Mask\u201d for his ice-cold demeanour in the ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The highly anticipated showdown didn\u2019t disappoint. His performances earned him the prestigious &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xUvYxKW4_V8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fighter of the Year<\/a>&#8221; Award 1991 from The Sport Writers Association of Thailand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1992, Samson had another successful year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DLfYZkCt-OE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defeating Chatchainoi Chaorai-Oi at Lumpinee Stadium<\/a> on January 24<sup>th<\/sup>, and securing his first victory in professional boxing on February 16th, knocking out Filipino boxer Young Elmer in the first round.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In March, 19-year-old Samson faced off against the Muay Khao veteran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=i0CsTA8A9K0&amp;t=99s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Langsuan Phanyuthapum<\/a>, who was six years his elder. Despite a valiant effort from Samson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n4ZMLnqnsjE\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n4ZMLnqnsjE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Langsuan secured a points victory<\/a> in a thrilling bout. Later that same month, Samson defended his 118 lbs Lumpinee title against &#8220;The Chonburi Shark\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sSv5Gmi56Zw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaroensak Kiatnakornchon<\/a>, known for his technical mastery, adaptability and durability. Lakhin was in good form, having just won the Isuzu Cup by beating the Technical Ace, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tyUR8ZLyokQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Burklerk Pinsinchai<\/a>, in the final. Samson outscored Lakhin after an action-packed bout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On June 2nd, Samson suffered his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W-wGRUT11Dk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second defeat to Jaroensak Kiatnakornchon<\/a>. However, a few weeks later, Samson knocked out Tweesaklek Ploysakda in the second round at Lumpinee Stadium. During this fight, Samson reaggravated an old injury to Tweesaklek\u2019s left eye with punches. Following the bout, Tweesaklek underwent four unsuccessful surgeries to repair the damage to his eye. He never fought again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In August, the highly anticipated rematch between Samson and Lakhin took place at Lumpinee Stadium, and it proved to be even more violent than their previous encounter. In round two, Lakhin knocked Samson down with a powerful uppercut that left him dazed. The referee started the count when the bell rang for the end of the round, giving Samson an opportunity to recover. Despite his condition, Samson and Lakhin continued to exchange heavy punches right up to the final bell. In the third round, Samson opened up a significant cut to Lakhin\u2019s face with elbows. In the third round, Samson unleashed a barrage of punches in his trademark style, prompting the referee to stop the fight.
